It鈥檚 okay to be undecided about your major when starting college. Choose the Exploratory area of interest to receive guidance, tools, and opportunities to help you discover your ideal career and college pathway.
Here’s how to get started:
- Connect with 天涯海角APP Admissions to learn about life as a Cavalier. Choose the option that’s best for you:
- (on campus, by phone, or Zoom)
- Attend a Campus Visit Event
- Apply for admission (it’s free!) and select Exploratory as your area of interest. After your application is processed, you’ll receive an email with next steps, such as completing New Student Orientation.
- After completing New Student Orientation, you will meet with a member of our team who will help you identify all your options.
- We are committed to helping you start strong and feel supported as you take your next steps toward your academic goals. Beginning in Fall 2026, all incoming first semester degree-seeking students who declare the Exploratory or Undecided area of interest are required to enroll in one of the following College Success courses during their first semester:
- COLL 101 – Navigating College (1 credit):
A focused course designed to help you successfully transition to college. You'll learn essential academic and personal success skills, connect with campus resources, and develop a foundation for informed decision-making and goal setting. - COLL 103 – Exploring Academic and Personal Success (3 credits):
A comprehensive course designed to support your success through the exploration of academic and life skills essential for college achievement. You'll develop goal-setting strategies, academic mindset, time management, academic communication, financial literacy, self-care practices, and an understanding of diverse perspectives. You will engage with campus tools and support services to strengthen your college readiness and create a personalized academic plan aligned with your goals.
- COLL 101 – Navigating College (1 credit):

As you learn more about careers and your interests, skills, and values, you’ll be better equipped to make decisions about your future. Once you’ve weighed your options, you’ll be ready to choose a path that excites you and aligns with your goals.
What if I change my mind?
It’s okay to change your major. In fact, many students do at least once. If you decide to switch, work with your counselor to create a new plan. Tools like Plan My Classes can help you stay on target to graduate and/or transfer.
